For those of you who do Jutte/Jitte when you do the first moving sequence toward the front of the dojo do you do palm hand or shuto strikes? I have seen it done both ways in different styles and am wondering what others have to say about how they do it.

In Shito ryu we do them as taisho (plam heel ) strikes . I dont think i have seen it run as shutos but that could be a bunkai application .

Yup, Taishos.

Its probably just a variation, or maybe its just from someone who forgot the original kata and made it up LOL - I've seen that happen before.....

I have seen shi-to ryu groups execute them has shuto's. Palm heel's do seem to be the standard with shotokan. And then Shorin ryu doesn;t do the kata.

In Wado-ryu I learned them as teisho (palm heel.).

There have always been Starkadders at Cold Comfort Farm!

You mean if I were keeping the same kata patten but just changing that strike?

Do you want to stay in the horse stance still yet?

Well you could do a knife hand chop - bring it from you ear and chop at the neck.

Then you could replace it with a sequence like like Heian Sandon or Jion.

What about throwing round house kicks and landing in the horse stance.

using the same motion as the chop you could throw a body hook punch or round elbow.

I have tons of other fancy things running in my head but its hard to put them into words LOL. Let me know if this helps if not I can try and type it out. LOL.
