kirby05 Posted October 21, 2002 Posted October 21, 2002 Hey everyone, I wanted to give you an update on my progress. First I quit my kickboxing, and i got into Muay Thai. This happened because i didn't feel like my kickboxing trainer was any good, and also because I have a cousin who wanted to take Muay Thai, so we decided to do it together. Anyways, since last time I have gained power and strength in my punches and kicks, I'm still working on my knees and elbows. I have lost a couple of pounds and my endurance is way better. I only have one problem, which I hope some of you could help me out in. I'm right handed so I do my jabs and my covering with my left, but after a while it just gives out on me and I can't cover that well anymore, or even throw a descent jab. My right arm can go on forever, but my left always dies on me. Is there any way I can improve endurance or strength on my left arm? Thanks for the advice
rabid hamster Posted October 21, 2002 Posted October 21, 2002 hi congradulations im sure there are other ways but the only way i can think of is continuely practice jabbing with your left hand and everyday increase it by 5-10. It is only with the heart that one can see clearly, for the most essential things are invisible to the eye.
Thai_Kick Posted October 22, 2002 Posted October 22, 2002 This is what you do... - Get a partner with focus gloves, or hit the heavy bag - Jab for 1min - rest 30 sec. - Jab for 3min - rest 30 sec - Jab for 5min - rest 30 sec - Jab for 3min - rest 30 sec - Jab for 1min If you stick to this routine your left jab/hand stamina will increase greatly also strengh and power will increase as a bouns! Good Luck! Limits Are Not Accepted. They Are Elbowed, Kicked And Punched.
kirby05 Posted October 25, 2002 Author Posted October 25, 2002 Thai Kick, how often should I stick with that routine. Everyday or every other day, what do you suggest? By the way thanks for the tips!
Thai_Kick Posted October 25, 2002 Posted October 25, 2002 Everyday... The more training the better, when you notice the stamina in you jab is better, start to make the routine times longer instead of 5 minutes do 10 minutes. This type of training will greatly improve overtime! Limits Are Not Accepted. They Are Elbowed, Kicked And Punched.
Red J Posted October 26, 2002 Posted October 26, 2002 Kirby, glad to hear that you are training. Keep working your left side harder than your right until you get your endurance and strength up. Your control will improve and you will be able to go either way by mixing it up from the right or the left. Good luck. I had to lose my mind to come to my senses.
Radok Posted October 27, 2002 Posted October 27, 2002 Practice standing in your fighting stance holding 5 or 10 lbs in your front hand. If you can't laugh at yourself, there's no point. No point in what, you might ask? there's just no point. Many people seem to take Karate to get a Black Belt, rather than getting a Black Belt to learn Karate.
