Class-Action Suit filed against the UFC

Recommended Posts

News here from the MMA Underground: http://www.mixedmartialarts.com/news/449196/Fitch-Le-and-Quarry-named-as-plaintiffs-in-class-action-suit/

Cung Le, Jon Fitch, and Nate Quarry are fighters named in a class-action suit being filed against the UFC. From the article:

The suit alleges that the UFC violated the Sherman Antitrust Act, eliminating competition, and thus reducing what the fighters would be able to earn in a free market.

What do you think? Do they have a case? Is the UFC curbing the ability for other promotions to compete? Or have they just done such a good job of branding and getting out there that everyone else has to play catch-up?

Very interesting case!! It'll take some time to read the 63 page Jury demand, but, important, to get an idea.

What I've read, and forgive me if I'm wrong in my initial interpretation of the case, but Vince McMahon/WWE "eliminated", by purchasing WCW and ECW, his competition. If memory serves me, no one can "own a monopoly" because it violates free trade markets and the like.

I think the complainants have a case against UFC/Dana White. But hey, I'm armchair quarterbacking here!!

:)

**Proof is on the floor!!!
