Alan0354 Posted December 5, 2014 Posted December 5, 2014 Hi allI need to buy a 70+lbs heavy bag that can stand up to bare hand punching and kicking. I am surprised I cannot buy the Everlast white canvas bags anymore. That's the only one that can stand up for using for a year or two. The vinyl ones just break in days. I don't know all the new covers like Nevatear, polycanvas and the other fancy names. I just need suggestions in buying one that can last.I know leather bags last for a long time, I have a 100 lbs already, I want one with rough surface to condition my hands.ThanksAlan

Alan0354 Posted December 6, 2014 Author Posted December 6, 2014 Thanks for the reply. I really want to get one with rough surface. I did look at Title canvas 70lb bag. http://store.titleboxing.com/canvasheavybag.htmlMy problem is I don't know how it will last. I got two of the Tuffwear black nylon canvas 70lbs, they lasted one week each!!! Big 5 felt so bad that they gave me a big discount buying a leather bag. That did lasted 4 years. I have a 100lbs leather bag already on one side. I really want to get a canvas for the other side.
Wastelander Posted December 10, 2014 Posted December 10, 2014 I don't know of any canvas bags that really last--they aren't really built for it. Unless you hit like a freight train, or you had defective bags, I'm still not sure how you have destroyed them as quickly as you have.My recommendation would be to get/buy a canvas maize bag, and fill it with sand. They tend to be fairly durable, since they aren't supporting as much weight as a heavy bag. You'll get the conditioning from the density of the sand and the texture of the canvas. You could also look into iron palm bags. Alan0354 Posted December 11, 2014 Author Posted December 11, 2014 Thanks for the reply. All the Everlast canvas did lasted 2 years. It is made of very heavy canvas. But the Tuffwear lasted one week each!!! I don't think it's defective because I exchange to another from Big 5 and it ripped in one week.I practice at home bare hand punching and bare feet kicking. I thought this is normal that people break their bag every year or two. I have not been to school of a long time already but I have been consistently doing rounds every week for the last 30 years as aerobic exercise. I don't know how heavy I punch, I am too old to worry about it, but I did break quite a few heavy bags. Now I stuffed my bags hard to make it last longer now.Yes, the leather bags last much longer, Big 5 was so embarrassed about two broken bags they gave me big discount to buy a leather bag, I stuffed it harder and it did lasted 4 years before I worn through it. I have a 100lbs leather bag on one side. My 70lbs Everlast canvas on the other side is getting old and I need to replace with a canvas to toughen my hands with the canvas. I am just surprised Everlast stop selling the white canvas bags anymore.currently, I am looking at Tittle black canvas bag, I just don't know how well it stand up.Thanks
