cheesefrysamurai Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 I'm curious if anyone knows how they stand up to other gisThanks Nothing Worth Having Is Easily Obtained - ESPECIALLY RANK
Harkon72 Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 I've never worn one, but those that do say they are good. Modern cut, ventilated, multi material and comfortable. For what you get they are good value. Look to the far mountain and see all.
cheesefrysamurai Posted November 4, 2014 Author Posted November 4, 2014 I've been combing the net trying to find reviews or comparisons and I really can't find any. One here and one there.Go with what I know? Buy and return? Keep looking for reviews?Specifically it's the Adidas karate champion gi. I wouldn't mind trying something new but maybe there's a reason I don't know anyone who has one. Generally I see a lot of meijin and tokaido. Thanks Nothing Worth Having Is Easily Obtained - ESPECIALLY RANK
wayneshin Posted November 5, 2014 Posted November 5, 2014 I have had a number of Adidas kumite gis and found them very good. Well cut, lightweight, well ventilated. Probably better than the Tokaido I have had but not as good as Arawaza.
nyramat911 Posted November 6, 2014 Posted November 6, 2014 As far as kata gis go I think they're reliable and fit well, but aren't as 'snappy' if you're looking for a serious competition gi. I've got a tokaido gold, shureido new wave 2 and an adidas elite, and for training the adidas is my favourite. Overall, I think the adidas kata gis are excellent value for money. It's not about the medals you win, it's about how much you improve.
JohnASE Posted November 13, 2014 Posted November 13, 2014 A factory in China was making the Adidas Karate Champion gi for the USA market, but they're no longer doing it. I haven't heard whether another factory has taken over. I don't know what was going on in foreign markets. Even though the old Champions aren't being made anymore, I'm sure some of them are still available for purchase. They're a good quality gi, comparable to a China-made Tokaido gi. They're 14 oz vs the 12 oz of the Adidas Elite and have good stitching. You might find a great value if someone is closing them out. John - ASE Martial Arts Supplyhttps://www.asemartialarts.com
sensei8 Posted November 18, 2014 Posted November 18, 2014 My opinion...logo's on a gi is fine, but in Shindokan, it's not allowed. Not my rule, but a rule I enforce, nonetheless, and it's a rule that I'm not interested in changing because it's importance is minimal, at best. **Proof is on the floor!!!
