cheesefrysamurai Posted October 19, 2014 Posted October 19, 2014 I know its early but I am already thinking about what to get Sensei for the holidays.I am having a hard time choosing between something traditional or something he can use.Keep in mind - he really does go above and beyond for me. Everything he does is guided by his passion of the martial arts. thanks Nothing Worth Having Is Easily Obtained - ESPECIALLY RANK
Kanku65 Posted October 19, 2014 Posted October 19, 2014 Hmmm... My go to thoughts are always "books, Sensei loves books!" But every year I realize "oh yeah, Sensei loves books so much that he already has ALL of them, and a kobo reader..." Does your Sensei have many hobbies or interests outside of the martial arts? If so, something pertaining to those interests I'm sure would be more than appropriate and certainly useful. To search for the old is to understand the new.The old, the new, this is a matter of time.In all things man must have a clear mind. The Way: Who will pass it on straight and well?- Master Funakoshi

Harkon72 Posted October 20, 2014 Posted October 20, 2014 It depends, if he's an outdoor type, maybe a good quality folding knife would be ideal. Does he spend a lot of time in nature? Fishing or Hiking? Maybe a good quality multi-tool would be perfect. Look to the far mountain and see all.
cheesefrysamurai Posted October 20, 2014 Author Posted October 20, 2014 He spends his time teaching, training- he has really dedicated himself to the arts. He's got a long list of accomplishments. Travels overseas regularly to train. When he'a not teaching he's doing his own training. Nothing Worth Having Is Easily Obtained - ESPECIALLY RANK
wayneshin Posted October 20, 2014 Posted October 20, 2014 Maybe something for his travel then. A nice piece of cabin size luggage to carry his gear
cheesefrysamurai Posted October 20, 2014 Author Posted October 20, 2014 I was considering the datsusara battlepack pro that wastelander recommended - concerned about committing him to a choice of a decade but it is very nice. I showed it to him because we were sort of on the hunt together. he thought it was nice - but felt that its alot of money (140) - its on my short listI ended up with a jansport klamath on dwx'srecommendation and its great (thank you dwx) Nothing Worth Having Is Easily Obtained - ESPECIALLY RANK
