Recommended Posts

Building on to some to the material that we did in class last week, this week we delved into taking, maintaining, and attacking from the back mount. Here's some of the work we put in:

Thanks, sensei8!

We're planning to. One of the first things I did after taking over the jiu jitsu program a few weeks ago was kick off this little project as an internal marketing thing. It's actually generated some pretty good response outside our group as well. Some JKD associates of mine have been really complimentary towards it as a supplement to their grappling training.

Have you gave any thought at all about showing the technique in normal speed before the tutorial? Possibly, it could be shown while the credits are rolling in the background, for example. I'd love to see the app in full/reg/normal speed in each of your video's.

Great video again. I liked the fact you teach to trap the arm, most I've seen don't add that detail until well after the fact.

I like what Sensei8 is suggesting with a full speed version before or after the video. Personally what I like to do it when filming is putting a clip of the full technique up either full speed ramped up to 2 times normal speed before hand and then after the teaching put it in slow motion or visa versa.

I'm enjoying these videos Alex. Box & Arrow is one of my favorite submissions from the back. I guess I'm still a very basic kind of guy. The detail of catching the arm was great and the set up is a little different than what I learned. More video, more reps of work.
