Just remember what Dobringer said, "For practice is better than art, your exercise does well without the art, but the art is not much good without the exercise." Read and think but put it to the test in sparring.Edit: Remember that orthodox fighters can and will use the same things on you. If successful, watch the look in their eyes. One of southpaw advantages over the orthodox is that not many orthodox fighters have faced a southpaw; it can be quite unsettling the first time. But don't depend on that much because they study against that, but, in the heat, they might forget. **Proof is on the floor!!!
jaypo Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 I'm orthodox, but I prefer to fight with in Southpaw stance. Something that I picked up from Jeet Kun Do. I'm right handed, so my powerful side is closer to my opponent. When sparring, it throws people off a bit. I do switch between orth. and southpaw a lot. But I feel more comfortable in Southpaw. I use a front leg sweep/leg kick a lot. I use a lot of kicks off of my front leg. Sidekicks, front kicks. They seem to work. I get in a lot of sidekicks. Those are pretty hard to block.
