scohen.mma Posted August 2, 2014 Posted August 2, 2014 Hey all, just a random question. Personally, I like Okinawan Karate. But I've always been a big fan of Jackie Chan and Jet Li. For those who have seen the movie, what are your thoughts on the movie? And how do you think it's display on Kung Fu and Martial Arts was? "Karate doesnt teach me to fight, it teaches me to solve my problems. Physically, mentally, and spiritually."
Archimoto Posted August 2, 2014 Posted August 2, 2014 Thank you Scohen for your question because it's inspired me to watch the movie!! I'll have to que it up and report back. Thanks ! To quote the great Bob Marley: "LOVE IS MY RELIGION"
clfsean Posted August 2, 2014 Posted August 2, 2014 It's an ok movie with lots of movie fu. Again sifu? Yes sifu!
sensei8 Posted August 3, 2014 Posted August 3, 2014 It's an ok movie with lots of movie fu.I agree! Some movements are effective, but there's just as many ineffectiveness as well to sell tickets. However, nothing in the MA is effective unless it works for that person at that given moment.Still, I enjoyed the movie. **Proof is on the floor!!!
Archimoto Posted August 3, 2014 Posted August 3, 2014 "Movie fu"LOL HILARIOUS!!! To quote the great Bob Marley: "LOVE IS MY RELIGION"
Kanku65 Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 Im actually a really big fan of that movie! Actually i enjoy most kung fu and martial arts movies, regardless of how headshakingly ridiculous they are. Every summer i go down to a local night market and pick up a bunch of foreign subtitled films. I know nothing of kung fu, so to me, there was nothing that i would perceive to be true or realistic kung fu. The movie was just very enjoyable in my opinion. To search for the old is to understand the new.The old, the new, this is a matter of time.In all things man must have a clear mind. The Way: Who will pass it on straight and well?- Master Funakoshi
scohen.mma Posted September 23, 2014 Author Posted September 23, 2014 Kanku65 same here!! I'm so easily entertained by martial arts movies. I'd like to see more that use Okinawan Karate accurately because it's fun seeing something that I know, or seeing something I just recently learned put into action on a movie screen. However, I enjoy Kung fu movies for the same reasons. I can keep a completely open mind to what theyre doing. "Karate doesnt teach me to fight, it teaches me to solve my problems. Physically, mentally, and spiritually."
