bushido_man96 Posted November 11, 2014 Author Posted November 11, 2014 I don't have a problem with belt testings for a fee. After all, things need to be paid for. Nor do I think that being a Martial Arts instructor should be an entirely charitable activity, nor should one need to struggle to get along, either. The fact of the matter is that there is good and bad out there, both instructors and students. Some like tradition and some don't. Some are looking for an approach, and some are looking for aesthetics. The value inherent in each is based off who is looking for it.On a side note....He teaches hand to hand, Japanese and Western weapons, daggers, shillelagh and tomahawk......this sounds like a blast! That's a great training opportunity. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
Harkon72 Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 As I see it, whatever you look for you will usually find. If you give out the impression that you are serious about your training, like minded people will find you. Isn't it true that; When the Student is ready, the Master will appear? Look to the far mountain and see all.

I guess if you look long enough, you will find what you are looking for. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
DavyKOTWF Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 Most people that comment negatively on Krav Maga have not even tried it, not even for an hour. One of the biggest things that determines who wins a fight is their conditioning and how good a shape they're in.That's one huge thing that KM does - it gets you inshape. I've seen too many McDojo 'senseis' that havehuge beer bellies...meaning they couldn't last 30 secondsin a real fight. The KM teacher I trained under was close to 50 years old and was fit as a fiddly, six packstomach that he got from doing KM and was in bettershape than most 20 year olds. In another 'style' Ilasted 5 weeks, then quit because too much secret ninja stuffin there...for the entire 5 weeks we were practicing the 17 ways to get out of when someone tries to grab your wrist...we were on number 5 at the end of the fiveweeks. I guess when you learned the 17, you got your black belt, I don't know. Both new black beltshad huge beer bellies and looked like the only exercise they got was running to the frig. Usually, most classes, we also practiced some George Dillman secret move that wasdesigned to impress us. Just saying... Be Water My Friend

TJ-Jitsu Posted April 3, 2016 Posted April 3, 2016 Top Krav Maga guy. . . Looks like a typical aikido demo- the over emphasis on flash is a deterrent rather than a strong point. Here's the biggest problem I have with krav- the whole "we aren't ring fighters- were street fighters!" Krav really is nothing more than bjj, boxing, wrestling, and associated styles. The problem here is that I've yet to see a Krav practitioner that was ever anything but at a beginner understanding of any of those styles. So how is one a novice at bjj, a novice at wrestling, and a novice at boxing, yet an EXPERT on Krav? Either Krav is not a style or its a poor quality one. The mindset of overwhelming your opponent is also an extreme flaw- it's easy to overwhelm someone that you're stronger and faster than- hence the reason for it being military combatives. This is why it's not a good fighting system. So practice less groin grabs eye gouges and dear god did I see a throat rip in that video? These things don't work as well as the people selling them to you claim they doBefore upset Krav practitioners respond let me merely state this: I don't care what you call your style provided that you actively train against resisting opponents. so just because you do Krav it doesn't mean you suck, and just because you do mma doesn't mean that you're good....

bushido_man96 Posted August 4, 2016 Author Posted August 4, 2016 Thanks, Bob, I have been.Days 2 and 3 are in the books now. We covered ground on day 2, and we've done a ton of gun retention and disarms, along now with knife defense and disarms. I'm lucky in that a lot of this is review for me, but the knife stuff is all new. Two days to go! https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
