OMG!!!! Don't do those!!!!:o

Ask any personal trainer and they will tell you NEVER do those!!! You can easily dislocate your hip and pull a quadricep muscle in the process....and if you ever pulled a hamstring...the quad muscle is double times worse!!!

We do those in our class...I personally think they're ok because I do a lot of yoga...but nearly everyone complains about it, and the look on people's faces... :uhoh:

I hate press-ups. I hate anything to do with working the biceps...which is a shame really because I pay for it after every lesson with v. sore muscles.

Isn't there a way to build up your arms without you consciously knowing that's what you're doing? Hmmm.

Yeah, we do those - but I've never had a problem with them, nor have I noticed anyone else having a problem with them either... :uhoh:

If you think something small cannot make a difference - try going to sleep with a mosquito in the room.

I wouldn't worry about it...it's mainly because they hurt if you aren't supple enough. I'm sure the problems with the hips are in a minority of cases.

If I understood correctly the exercise I think defenestration_girl was referring to was the hurdler's stretch. Sitting or lying down with one or both feet pulled to the outside of your hip is bad news for your knees. For a safe quad and hip flexor stretch, lie on one side, grab the "top" foot and pull it behind your back....
