ramymensa Posted October 5, 2002 Posted October 5, 2002 Up to now I have been a crappy yellow belt in judo and self taught Jeet Kune DoDon't call youself crappy You've done some efforts in order to get there ... even if it's not that high. You should stop thinking all the time at ranks. There are "blacks" here, but think about those years they've been working for this. They have this time advantage and all that work. Want to become like them? Work ... and wait for the years to pass as you struggle I admire your effort. Be sure you'll make it About those 3? I do Shotokan and I think it's the best (for me). For you ... it may be .... may be not. Go see and then decide. Whatever you'll decide go for it. Good luck World Shotokan Karate
ZeRo Posted October 5, 2002 Posted October 5, 2002 Up to now I have been a crappy yellow belt in judo and self taught Jeet Kune Do a belt means nothin to someone who trains hard. im just a yellow but i can put up a good fight against some of the green belts. judos fun! i think kickboxing would compliment your judo the best.
diamondick Posted October 5, 2002 Author Posted October 5, 2002 Yes as a yellow belt I did learn some tricks in Judo Such as falling, I loved the forward jump over people and roll back to my feet. And some basic throws and holds.
ZeRo Posted October 5, 2002 Posted October 5, 2002 yeh diving rolling front falls are fun. i did one over 5 people kneeling. quite scary but very fun. dont you do it anymore?
diamondick Posted October 5, 2002 Author Posted October 5, 2002 I got my ass kicked in competition by a guy,in front of a large audience When this happened I lost interest and quit.
LeaF Posted October 5, 2002 Posted October 5, 2002 You should not let your self get discouraged just because you lost, This should inspire you and encourage you to train harder. Is the glass half empty or full, it is all about how you look at things... btw how old are you diamondick? Goju Ryu Karate-do and Okinawan Kobudo, 17 Years Old 1st kyu Brown Belt in in Goju Ryu Karate-do, & Shodan in Okinawan KobudoGiven enough time, any man may master the physical. With enough knowledge, any man may become wise. It is the true warrior who can master both....and surpass the result.I AM CANADIAN
diamondick Posted October 5, 2002 Author Posted October 5, 2002 Lets just say I was already w*nking it when you were born
Radok Posted October 5, 2002 Posted October 5, 2002 over the coarse of a year, you become proficient in karate, and it then surpasses full-contact. If you can't laugh at yourself, there's no point. No point in what, you might ask? there's just no point. Many people seem to take Karate to get a Black Belt, rather than getting a Black Belt to learn Karate.
G95champ Posted October 6, 2002 Posted October 6, 2002 Each are very differant. 1. What do you want? Do you want to be a fighter? Do you want to do karate for fun? Are you looking for just SD and execise? 2. Price vs Class number 3.Loacation vs class times. (General George S. Patton Jr.) "It's the unconquerable soul of man, and not the nature of the weapon he uses, that ensures victory."
KU Posted October 6, 2002 Posted October 6, 2002 Don't worry if you lost in a competition i't's not the end of the wourld. Just take it as a bit of experiance if you were to continue your training you may win next time and if you don't then winning isn't everything. You can't expect to win with a limited experiance, seven times down eight time up!! - Only by contrast can we see.- Each for his own.
