tank Posted March 9, 2014 Posted March 9, 2014 Hopefully I can get some good feedback. I am a new member and this is my 1st post.I have been practicing Tai Chi for over 20 years and dabbled in the various stick fighting arts for about 10 years. I have had no formal training in any stick fighting techniques-only DVDs and partner work with a friend.Recently, I found some interesting cane fighting videos on youtube and am interested in pursuing a formal learning/training program with a cane. It seems like there are 2 major "schools" with formal training programs.1) Cane Masters with Mark Shuey as the head honcho2) American Cane Self Defense with Joe RobainoAny thoughts and or experience in either of these schools? I appreciate any feedback at all. Thank you for your helpSincerely, John
Harkon72 Posted March 9, 2014 Posted March 9, 2014 There are three kinds of cane fighting that I know of; and they are very different.Tai Ji ChuanBataireacht, Irish Stick FightingBartitsu – The Gentleman’s Art of Self Defense I'm not an expert, but I remember Irish traveler families on Anglesey always carrying their shillelagh. Look to the far mountain and see all.

bushido_man96 Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 I wasn't aware that Bartitsu was still around. That would be fun to do. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
Harkon72 Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 There was a spate of Bartitsu ads on FB a few months ago; I believe that there is an academy in London. They use Sherlock Holmes as a figure in their advertising; I find them curious to say the least old bean. Look to the far mountain and see all.
