ChrisOneisom
Hi everyone! We were tossing around a few ideas for our summer camp this year and one of the ideas was doing a "martial arts movie" camp where we would make our own little short films. Some choreographed action scenes, some sketch comedy, that sort of thing. Not sure if it's possible from a legal/ insurance standpoint but I was curious if anyone else had done something similar. Hope to hear from you soon!
Zaine
I've never run one but I've been to one. They're definitely possible through insurance (or at least that's what the organization running it said) you just have to do some research, maybe talk to some lawyers to get the necessary paperwork. I remember having a lot of fun, it was only a weekend but there was a lot of seminars, morning work outs, they provided meals (none of them were that great at cooking but what lacked in flavor was made up for in the community that you ate with). Martial arts training is 30% classroom training, 70% solo training.https://www.instagram.com/nordic_karate/
DWx
Welcome to the forums ChrisOneisom. Sounds like a cool idea. Even without the video cameras you could get people to choreograph mini fight or action scenes to show the group. There was a recent thread on the topic of summer camps, might be able to get a few ideas here: http://www.karateforums.com/karate-training-camp-vt46126.html "Everything has its beauty, but not everyone sees it." ~ Confucius
ChrisOneisom
Thanks for the pointers guys. We have plenty of cameras and editing software etc. from our DVDs. I just ran the idea by the owners today at our meeting and they loved it. The last 2 years I ran a tournament training camp which went really well but I think the kids will have a lot of fun with this. I'll check out the link too. Thanks again!
