Kensai Posted September 28, 2002 Posted September 28, 2002 Hi, Firstly Wado Ryu, is karate. However there are many styles of karate, like shotokan, Gojo Ryu and okinanwan styles. I would say that you dont have to mix judo and karate at all, although I know some people aht are in favour of mixing. Wado Ryu, is a mixture of Aikido, judo and shotokan karate. It is a very defensive style, using your opponents weight and attacks againt them. Take Care
Wado Guy Posted October 3, 2002 Posted October 3, 2002 Newtoitall, First off, I would like to say that, yes, Wado Ryu is a great style (but then again, i'm a bit biased) It is heavily influenced by Shindo Yoshin Ryu Jujitsu, Shotokan, and like Kensai pointed out, it has Aikido influence as well. You're in TN. TN is has great Wado Schools. (Especially in the Middle TN area). Give it a try. I bet you'll like it :)
