bushido_man96 Posted October 23, 2013 Posted October 23, 2013 Thanks everyone, but volunteering was no big deal.... moms are pretty good at just seeing something that needs to be done and doing it! I really don't think I have the patience to ever instruct on a regular basis, but helping out occasionally is probably a good thing, for many of the reasons that you all mentioned. Helping out over time like that will help you get that experience for when you finally do teach on a more regular basis. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
pittbullJudoka Posted October 23, 2013 Posted October 23, 2013 It gets somewhat easier the more you do it. You did not mention a number but imagine having 15 to 20 kids that are acting like they are hoped up on Mountain Dew and pixie tix. Also you'll improve as a martial artist the more you teach you'll see the little things because of you new prespective. But well said its a different story on the other side of class.
CredoTe Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 Yes, great job on stepping up with the assist... This is one of the reasons why, in most Karate/MA dojos, it takes a while to progress from advanced kyu ranks (2nd/1st kyu, most likely brown belts) to black belt: it's not just about one's personal ability or skill anymore. It's also about one's ability to lead and instruct other students! Remember the Tii!In Life and Death, there is no tap-out...
