diamondick
I have found this threat is very real, I have been sent the War machine hidden in an innocent zip file, it was diagnosed as a worm and quarantined still I dont know if it did any damage. I deleted the file. Just wanted to know if anyone knows how far these attacks can go I know there are hackers who know a lot about this. And how to protect oneself,I do have antivirus. ramymensa
Unfortunatelly sometimes the AntiVirus doesn't detect anything suspicious until it's too late. It'a a shame things like this ever happen. whenever an event like this happens someone has to sufer and to lose some important things ... informations or the PC World Shotokan Karate

moobrack
This si a touchy subject The thing about these war machine viruses - is sometimes the virus worm could be so complexed it could be using your computers processor power and data strands to aid a criminal computer mastermind - for exam ple in the production of a bomb or a war plan This is how far and REAL it can get! chh
On that subject, hopefully everybody with a cable modem connection knows that they need firewall software along with their anti-virus program. I use Black Ice Defender, seems to work great (even though a large percentage of the activity it freaks out about is normal interaction between the boxes in our home network, but that's probably something I could fix by tweaking the settings). I guess XP comes with its own firewall software now, haven't had much experience with that.
