hayesjames82
Who of you are addicted to martial arts, and just can't get enough. Also what style do you train in and where ? When you understand a technique, you know a technique. When you understand a concept, you know a thousand techniques.
Harkon72
I train in North Wales in the UK, my style is Shukokai Karate, my Association is Dragon Martial Arts, and I'm totally addicted to it. My Sensei is doing his 5th Dan grading in a few weeks, we are so proud of him. Look to the far mountain and see all.
mal103
I teach twice a week, Shotokan Karate, I train with my Sensei twice a week, I try to do a few hours a week on keeping up my Kata and trying out new combinations/bunkai to add to my teaching plans.I spend another 2 hours per week in total speaking to students, instructors and my Sensei after lessons.I spend another few hours thinking about everything, normally when i'm driving or waiting for something or supposed to be doing work...If I get time I will also research videos, books etc to expand my own knowledge and keep a check of what's going on, oh - and at least an hour a week on a forum...Nope - not addicted at all. CredoTe
Absolutely, I'm addicted to the MA... I train in and teach Matsubayashi-Ryu (Shorin-ryu) in the central Ohio area (town west of Columbus, Ohio, USA). My instructor and I are partners in the dojo we run together; he is CI and has 38+ years of experience, and I have 24+ years of experience. We teach 3 adult classes a week (1.5 hours each), 2 youth classes a week (1 hour each), and 1 little kid class a week (45 min); plus many after-hours and private hours spent helping students, providing one-on-one for struggling students or for those trying to make up some missed time, etc, all for no additional charges. We believe in what we do, and we believe in giving our students as much as possible without charging an arm and a leg for it. IcemanSK
I've trained in Taekwondo for more than 30 years. Through high school, college, grad school, moving across the country, many job changes, & life changes. Training has always been there. I've also trained in Western boxing, & full contact rules (think PKA of the 80's) as well. Here's my question to add to the OP, "what have you either given up, or done to go out of your way to train?" Example #1 I used to get in the car at 6 am to drive 25 miles in Chicago winters to train. Example #2 I know a guy who sought out a graduate school program based on the town a great grandmaster lived. He uprooted his life & moved there to both go to school & train under this GM. That's dedication. What lengths have you gone to feed your MA addiction? Being a good fighter is One thing. Being a good person is Everything. bushido_man96
This year marks the 20th year of my addiction. All those years have been put into TKD, along with Hapkido, Aikido, and Defensive Tactics. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
sensei8
I'm so very glad that there's no intervention clinic to address my addiction to the MA!! If there was, I'd never attend! **Proof is on the floor!!!
