I came across these interesting articles online today. The first is about a 19th century samurai training manual that was deciphered. The second is a companion piece regarding the Romans using ancient "MMA" athletes to recruit folks into their army. Interesting reads...

Hello,

For those interested in the Koryu featured (Takenouchi-ryu / Takeuchi-ryu) here is a clip of it being done very well at the Meiji Jingu Embu (2012).

Whilst Takenouchi-ryu is a “sogo bujutsu” (comprehensive system) that trains a multitude of weapons as well as unarmed techniques, it is most renowned for its Jujutsu / kogusoku

In fact Takenuchi-ryu is the progenitive system from which virtually all Japanese Jujutsu (and thus Judo) comes from.

If you want to study Jujutsu at its real grass roots level - this is the art to go for...
