quinteros1963 Posted July 10, 2013 Posted July 10, 2013 What's your take on promotions from multiple instructors? I was awarded my black belt from a previous instructor that I train with him whenever I am back home. I am a brown belt where I currently train, but am asked frequently by higher ranks when am going to be a black belt? (No one knows that I have rank in Goju). How will my current instructor see this? Is it a sign of disrespect? The past is no more; the future is yet to come. Nothing exist except for the here and now. Our grand business is not to see what lies dimly at a distance, but to do what's clearly is clearly at hand...Lets continue to train!
DWx Posted July 10, 2013 Posted July 10, 2013 If it's a different style altogether then I wouldn't have thought it would have mattered. Although the skills are probably transferrable it doesn't mean the curriculum is. If both belts are in the same style then that would be a little different. sensei8 Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 How will your instructor see this? Well, if he's solid across the board, he'll not give it any thought beyond...."Hhhmmmmm", and that's about it.No, imho, it's not a sign of disrespect, especially since we live in the year 2013 and not the yesteryears.Just train and train hard!! You'll be fine!! **Proof is on the floor!!!
bushido_man96 Posted July 13, 2013 Posted July 13, 2013 If he doesn't mind that you work in that other style, then he shouldn't mind if you test for black belt in that style. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
