jcvamp
I'm currently a red belt, due to go for my yellow belt in Shotokan, and a yellow belt from my dojo has recently been to a tournament. I'm wondering they might ask me about tournaments once I have my yellow belt, and if so, what exactly happens.
Nevinyrral
If you are under WKF shotokan, then its mostly kata or point fighting kumite. But it might be diffrent depending on tournament, also diffrent organisationns have diffrent rules. It would be best if you would ask your sensei or your friend. A style is just a name. DWx
Plenty of footage on YouTube from this years nationals: http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=kugb+nationals+2013Can see loads of examples of kumite and kata there.Full competition rules are also on the KUGB website: http://www.kugb.org/kugb-competition-rules.phpLooks like they have divisions for ippon kumite, jiyu kumite and kata competition.
