ShoriKid Posted June 30, 2013 Posted June 30, 2013 Par for the course with the NY legislature it seems. Kisshu fushin, Oni te hotoke kokoro. A demon's hand, a saint's heart. -- Osensei Shoshin Nagamine
bushido_man96 Posted June 30, 2013 Posted June 30, 2013 Yes. But I think Boxing is still allowed. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
sensei8 Posted July 1, 2013 Author Posted July 1, 2013 Yes. But I think Boxing is still allowed. Why do you think it is that way? Both can be viewed by politicians as violent, and since they make the laws; impressing them just isn't that easy. **Proof is on the floor!!!
ShoriKid Posted July 2, 2013 Posted July 2, 2013 Boxing, around the turn of the last century, wasn't legal either. Bare knuckle was on the way out and gloves and safety rules, with the buy in of upper class backing gyms and fighters brought it into the spot light. Legality only came when there was a way for people to see a clear way to make money and the ends of the Victorian era helped it along the way. MMA suffers from a thug aura perpetuated by those who don't like it for one reason or another. And, there are plenty of old heads in the boxing community have a hate on for MMA and see it as a threat. Thus, they do everything they can to keep it out of the state right now. ps1 Posted July 2, 2013 Posted July 2, 2013 This has been going on for years. NY isn't seeing the bigger picture. If they were smart, like my state of Ohio, they would legalize it and then regulate the heck out of it. There's a state commission, fighter registration and everything. The state makes money on it. Even the referees have to be state certified. "It is impossible to make anything foolproof because fools are so ingenius."
