Stefano123
Hi, I want to ask you what kata of karate shotokan do you prefer. In my opinion, unsu and kanku sho, because of the jumps, are the most beautiful kata. What about you??

bushido_man96
The only Shotokan kata I would know is Naifanchi, or Tekki, Shodan. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
Wastelander
The closest kata I have to a Shotokan kata is the Shuri-Ryu version of Empi. I used to compete with that kata, with decent success, so I'll say that is my preferred "Shotokan" kata. Outside of that, Naihanchi is my favorite, followed by Seiunchin. ShoriKid
Empi, of the handful I know. Closest to Shotokan orthodoxy as well. My Bassai Dai and Kanku Dai or in line for the Shotokan group I've trained with, but not JKA acceptable by any means. My Naihanchi is Shorinryu based, so can't claim that and won't. GojuRyu Bahrain
At the moment, I prefer Hangetsu over all other Shotokan Kata, because it is the most widespread Kata throughout Karate styles. (In a previous post I compare Goju - Uechi - Shotokan - and Isshin Ryu versions: Sesan - Seisan - Hangetsu - Seishan)Hangetsu is not as beautiful as other Kata, but the Bunkai really rock. ------------Goju Ryu (Yushinkan since 1989), Shotokan (JKA since 2005)
