ChrisHigashi Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 The best Gis I've ever owned are;Arawaza crystal (perfect for kata) a slim gi, no wide legs or arms, crisp and at. 12oz, you get a lovely crisp gi.My current gi, shureido new wave 3 is definitely the best gi I've had and seen. 5stars all round.Gis I would also recommend:KO kata professionaleKazeTokaido heavyweights are lovelyAnd Adidas have some great wkf approved gis
Roninkai Posted March 9, 2014 Posted March 9, 2014 (edited) I've also heard good things about the tokaido yakudo. Is it better than the hirota #163? Help me!p.s. excuse me for the lenght!! I know that this is an old post but I just can't control myself to reply .I would prefer the Hirota 163 more than the Tokaido (TSA) Yakudo IMHO. The Yakudo is the same as the Ultimate Traditional SAW but with shorter sleeves and pants for that tournament cut. On the other hand the Hirota 163 are fully tailored for you or custom made for that perfect fit without doing any alterations when you received it. Prior 2010 the 163 were being made with the #10 sail canvas like the Yakudo, but at present they made the fabric a little bit lighter. The Shureido NW3 is of different breed as it's made of poly/cotton fabric. It just can't tolerate any stains unlike cotton fabric gis as you will be having a very hard time in removing those stains as they will be permanent. I think the NW3 will be good for tournaments where you want to be looking good in front of everybody. I don't think it's for daily training as it will lose it's sharpness after how many uses and washes. Great sharp looks that gives you those snapping loud sounds when doing kata . Harkon72 Posted March 9, 2014 Posted March 9, 2014 Availability is a key factor all over the world. Blitzsport are a value UK supplier, we use them for cheap kumite Gis, I'm yet to try Ninecircles, theirs look good and traditional. I might go for their 14oz Gi next. Price should be balanced with quality. At the end of the day; it's what is in the Gi that matters. Look to the far mountain and see all.
