Darn Front kick

i have a battered bottom lip and a broken tooth because of that kick.

yet i never liked practicing it that much.

If you have a basic but effective traditional karate move thats now been used in mma lets hear about it

The shovel kick, or oblique kick, is probably my favorite traditional karate technique that has recently been used in MMA. It isn't a finishing technique unless you land it just right, but it is great for stopping forward movement and causing pain. So far, it's only being used by a couple fighters, but I think it is starting to catch on because it has been showing up in fights more often lately.

I have little MMA experience, but a Shotokan style Round Kick with the ball of the foot to the inner thigh works great for me in self defense.

Look to the far mountain and see all.

MMA stands for "mixed martial arts." It is a competition format where competitors are trained in more than one martial art, and they fight each other with full-contact strikes combined with grappling. If you search YouTube for "MMA fights" or "UFC fights" you can find some examples. Interestingly, the spinning heel hook kick that you mention has been used a few times recently in the UFC, which is the premier organization when it comes to producing MMA events. You can see them performed at the links below by Edson Barboza and Vitor Belfort, respectively:

OOooooooooooooooooh thank you!!!

I don't do a lot of kumite, but I am strong in kata. In some competition there were many styles and martial arts. But it isn't like kumite: kumite competitions "MMA" sould be very interesting!

In my humble opinion, the most spectacular tecnique of martial arts, is ushiro ura mawashi geri. In a match, it is something of simply incredible.

What would this technique be in English? Some kind of round kick, I'm guessing.

Not meaning to speak out of turn, but, to answer Brian's question about Ushiro Ura Mawashi Geri, in layman's term it's...spinning reverse roundhouse kick[spinning hook kick].

:)

**Proof is on the floor!!!
