It's up to you how long your belt is, most people prefer mid thigh to knee length. Personally I prefer my belt to reach almost my knees, because it stays tied up that way, and I don't grapple. If it were past my knees, however, it would get in the way of low stances and/or hit me in the face.

It's not about the medals you win, it's about how much you improve.
