Good luck with your test! Your passing would simplify things, at least in the short run.

It's very common for groups to splinter after the head of an organization passes. Usually it's a shame. Sometimes it's for the best. If yours is like others, it's going to take a lot of work to patch the hole left by the loss of your Dai-Soke.

This disagreement sounds like a bad sign to me. Will the Shindokan governing body be able to work together? Will a leader emerge who can get everyone else to fall in line? Can you be that man, and do you want to be? If not, could you follow someone else, or is it better if you leave?

I might be over dramatizing, but the outcome of this will affect thousands of people.

I'm allowing the test to happen because Greg, our Kancho, put this little bug in my ear...

"Dai-Soke's gone! His guidance is above all! But, many of his immediate students are STILL HERE; trust them and allow them to test your mettle in ways that will reflect Dai-Soke!! They've earned that right, even though they're not Dai-Soke!!"

This is wise. I'm glad he said that to you.

Actually, I'm glad he said it as well because I depend on him across the board; we're two peas in a pod, MA wise, that is.

Test will be this Monday, July 8, 2013.

Solid post across the board JohnASE, I thank you for it!!

Since the passing of Soke and Dai-Soke, we've faced a splintering that was quite damaging at its onslaught, but that was very short lived and the outcome made us closer and stronger for the long term.

Will the Shindokan governing body be able to work together?

Yes, and this is proof by the fact that we only expelled one. We're a very solid group!!

Will a leader emerge who can get everyone else to fall in line?

I believe that person is myself, and I've the support of the entire Hombu as well as the entire student body, and this is why I was elected as the current Kaicho.

Can you be that man, and do you want to be?

Presently, I am that man, and I want to be, not for ego, but for the betterment of Shindokan, the Hombu, and it's entire student body. My strength is my knowledge and experience!!

If not, could you follow someone else, or is it better if you leave?

Yes, I could follow someone else because Shindokan isn't about me, it's about the betterment of Shindokan as a whole. I'd leave if it meant that the betterment of Shindokan would gain even the slightest improvement because Shindokan is for everyone, and it's not just for me. I've no ego to bruise!!

I've contemplated many things since I've been Kaicho, but Kudan ISN'T one of them. They're getting what they want; let's get by this and concentrate on things of greater importance and not what rank the Kaicho has to be.
