skullsplitter Posted May 2, 2013 Posted May 2, 2013 My apologies if this the wrong forum. Wasnt sure where to put this.So we have two kids who want to do a team weapons demo. One does bo and the other chuks. I'm thinking that a choregraphed battle between the two is a good idea. Do any of you know of any movie scenes or other video with this combination? I'd like to get a visual of what these weapons would look like against each other. Any other suggestions are welcome too.

I do have some input though and am looking for ideas. People with much more knowledge than I have are making the final decisions.
Kusotare Posted May 3, 2013 Posted May 3, 2013 Most schools that have weapon work within their curiculem have several well practiced Kata that are usually used in embu.If the school has experience in teaching Bo vs Nunchaku drills then utilise one of these. If not, I wouldn't go making one up. What would be the point in that?K. Usque ad mortem bibendum!
bushido_man96 Posted May 3, 2013 Posted May 3, 2013 I really think that would be an awkward combination of weapons to see fighting each other, and am not sure it would really work well at all. But, I'm speaking from a practical standpoint, and not a demonstration standpoint. I can't think of any demo or movie scene I've ever witnessed involving these two versing one another, so I don't know where you'd go to get some choreography ideas.Let us know what you do figure out. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
Harkon72 Posted May 3, 2013 Posted May 3, 2013 All I can say is take your time and stay safe. The Nunchaku especially can give nasty injuries if you don't take the right steps to practice with it. Having a partner in the equation doubles the risk. If you slow down too much in the enbu it won't look right; if you really go for it, the kata will be dangerous. Please think carefully, it could take months of training to perfect. That said, good luck. Look to the far mountain and see all.
maisweh Posted May 14, 2013 Posted May 14, 2013 something like this, but bo substituted for one pair of chucks may work... if you want to be fancy
Harkon72 Posted May 14, 2013 Posted May 14, 2013 I'm sorry, this reminds me of Majorette baton twirling and it has nothing to do with martial arts at all. They seem to have lost the root of the tradition of the weapon. Freestyle? No-style in my opinion. Look to the far mountain and see all.
maisweh Posted May 14, 2013 Posted May 14, 2013 its entertaining to watch, that is all. the younger kids seem to prefer it more than traditional stuff.
Kusotare Posted May 14, 2013 Posted May 14, 2013 That was dreadful! There are some great martial artists in America, but it's things like this that lose the US credibility imo.K. Usque ad mortem bibendum!
