cheesefrysamurai Posted April 25, 2013 Posted April 25, 2013 So Sensei wants to step into the new century and get a computer for keeping track of attendance and other info. Can anyone recommend a decent software package. Price is an issue, we are a small dojo and he is not interested in a big investment. Thanks Nothing Worth Having Is Easily Obtained - ESPECIALLY RANK
JGarner890 Posted April 26, 2013 Posted April 26, 2013 I just use Microsoft Excel myself. Easy, keeps track of students in alphabetical order. I like it. Perfect Practice makes Perfect.
JusticeZero Posted April 26, 2013 Posted April 26, 2013 LibreOffice will do the all the same things and is free.Is it just billing you're looking for, or what? There's lots of open source programs out there for that sort've thing.. "Anything worth doing is worth doing badly." - Baleia

DWx Posted April 28, 2013 Posted April 28, 2013 Perhaps someone could set up a database with all those fields in Microsoft Access? We have a fancy swipe card / membership log system at our school that tracks attendance, payments and the like but my instructor does pay a subscription for it and I don't think it's cheap. cheesefrysamurai Posted April 29, 2013 Author Posted April 29, 2013 Yeeesh, I was hoping there would be lots of options. Those high dollar systems are great for larger commercial schools but for smaller schools, its simply not possible. Nothing Worth Having Is Easily Obtained - ESPECIALLY RANK
JusticeZero Posted April 30, 2013 Posted April 30, 2013 There seem to be lots of options, but I don't know anything about them.try googling for "open source billing software" and tweaking the search terms to fit and you will see a bunch of things that may or may not be appropriate to the problem at hand.
