Harlan
Why was it difficult? Frankly, I'm at a loss why everyone isn't relieved he is gone. First off, it sounds like you depend on student fees to stay open...and so have a limited ability to show students the door. Be glad he moved on, instead of being a whiny thorn in everyone's side.Just my take.Yes, we knew it was a mistake. Nobody's perfect. It was a difficult situation. Leaves fall. Harkon72
Yes, I agree Harlan; we're much better off without him. Look to the far mountain and see all.
mal103
It's possible that you would want to do the best by every student and to make allowances or bend the rules a bit.Although some people are beyond helping so concentrate on the good ones. JusticeZero
This is the reason (well, one of them) why I like the idea of a 'Guest Belt' completely outside the normal colors. inventor
When you join our dojo, you start as a white belt, period. I have had many black belts walk away once they knew our rules. But the good ones stayed.I had a legitimate sixth dan start over as a white belt. If you don't know our system, how can you teach our system? Lupin1
This is the reason (well, one of them) why I like the idea of a 'Guest Belt' completely outside the normal colors. 'You have some unspecified training in a different school, but you arent ranked here.. here, wear this black-and-white stripe belt till you test.'I never considered that before. That's a really, really good idea. I can see that solving a lot of problems.
Harkon72
Yes, I agree, but what color do you choose? White and Black is a grade in our style. Look to the far mountain and see all.
Lupin1
If your style doesn't have a camo belt, that would awesome. Be like "you're camouflaging your true rank to keep the others guessing-- like a ninja". My instructor tried that line on me when I was in middle school and came back after a several year gap. He made me wear a white belt until I got up to my previous rank (yellow belt-- which in our kids' program is the fourth belt) but he would tell me I'm a ninja yellow belt masquerading as a white belt to throw everyone off. I LOVED it.
JusticeZero
Camo? Zebra? Rainbow? Anything that's plainly out of place in your grading color scheme without looking like a punishment to wear.
