Vargox Posted April 16, 2013 Posted April 16, 2013 I stake part in tournaments in kata and I want buy new belts. I start on WKF tournaments so belts must be blue and red. Which belts are in your opinion best fo kata. I think that belt for kata should be wide and heavy, what do you think about it?
mal103 Posted April 16, 2013 Posted April 16, 2013 Not sure what belts are needed for competitions but when I watch someone do Kata I watch the person, their stance, speed, technique.I would just put on my own belt...
Wastelander Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 The quality of the belt really doesn't matter too much, unless you compete a lot. I believe that Tokaido belts are fairly standard for WKF competitions, though:https://www.tokaidojapan.com/ntokaido/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=262 Kishimoto-Di | 2014-Present | Sensei: Ulf KarlssonShorin-Ryu/Shinkoten Karate | 2010-Present: Yondan, Renshi | Sensei: Richard Poage (RIP), Jeff Allred (RIP)Shuri-Ryu | 2006-2010: Sankyu | Sensei: Joey Johnston, Joe Walker (RIP)Judo | 2007-2010: Gokyu | Sensei: Joe Walker (RIP), Ramon Rivera (RIP), Adrian RiveraIllinois Practical Karate | International Neoclassical Karate Kobudo Society
Vargox Posted April 17, 2013 Author Posted April 17, 2013 I thought about Tokaido belts... I take part in competitions almost every weekend, so belts are littlebit important too. Do you know what belts I can get in Cech Republic? Because i'm going to go to Hradec Kralove GP next weekend and I want buy belts there.
sensei8 Posted April 19, 2013 Posted April 19, 2013 I concur with mal103, and in addition, I might take notice of how the competitors gi and belt are; but that's only to see if it's clean and wrinkle-free and to see if the gi top was put on correctly and that the belt is tied. Only get one chance to make that first impression across the board. **Proof is on the floor!!!
Vargox Posted April 29, 2013 Author Posted April 29, 2013 I have already bought WKF Approved Kaze belts (model Samurai) and they are really good, weider than normaly and heavy. They cost 16 €.
