muttley Posted April 3, 2013 Posted April 3, 2013 Has anyone ever trained in this style of karate? I had not heard of it until I stumbled spin a dojo thus morning. Is it quite traditional? Are there similarities to other styles?
ps1 Posted April 3, 2013 Posted April 3, 2013 Has anyone ever trained in this style of karate? I had not heard of it until I stumbled spin a dojo thus morning. Is it quite traditional? Kusotare Posted April 3, 2013 Posted April 3, 2013 The word “Kamishin” is used quite frequently in gendai arts and their names.Kami = God or SpiritShin = Heart or truthSo in most cases Kamishin-ryu – means something along the lines of “school of the divine truth”These guys seem to have quite a large group here in the UK and seem to be more Karate orientated:http://www.kamishinryu.com/K. andym Posted April 3, 2013 Posted April 3, 2013 It's an off shoot of Kyukushinkai Karate. If you believe in an ideal. You don't own it ; it owns you.
Kusotare Posted April 3, 2013 Posted April 3, 2013 I could be wrong, but I don't think it's Kyukoshin in this case.As explained, "Kamishin" as a very popular name in Japanese Budo, but I’m not aware of many Kyukoshin groups here in the UK that operate with that name.Happy to stand corrected of course.K Usque ad mortem bibendum!
