The Grand National Horse Race

The biggest horse race in the UK is happening this saturday at Aintree Racecourse Liverpool.

It has 40 runners, all champions. Some are former winners, some have never run the race before.

Known as the most challenging race in the world it is quite a spectacle.

Campaigners have tried to ban it as being too dangerous, it has been made safer over the years. It remains the most thrilling horse race in the calender, and any horse can win! I wager on this race every year; one to win, two to finished placed, wish them luck!

Look to the far mountain and see all.

Sue and Harvey Smith's Horse Auroras Encore wins the 2013 Grand National Steeple Chase at 66/1. A good result for the Bookmakers, I enjoyed the race and glad that all the runners and jockeys finished the race safely.

Did you make any money? I never understand who to bet on.

One of my horses finished the race, it was 3rd last year but only finished 13th this time round. The winner was a 66/1 outsider, with not many people betting on it, so the bookmakers were very pleased this year. This is the only race I bet on, I make my selection 3 days before and take the odds offered on that day. They can go up or down depending on the popularity of the horse; if many people back a horse then the odds shorten as bookmakers will make a loss if it wins. A good tip is to back a fancied horse and also maybe an outsider just for fun, the odds will be greater and with this race they are all champions before the race anyway so every one has a chance. Good Luck
