shanny_kimura
Between the 10 arts I train in, I'd have to say its my Jiu-Jitsu game that's the most deadly & impressive.Goodness, do you even sleep?I see you're a Kyokushin black belt. Who did you study under? Some good Kyokushin karateka in Canada.Yes I do. And Sensei Ivany. He is not with us anymore he is in Hong Kong now he got transferred, he is a school teacher. He made me work extra hard and made me train more so I would get my BB exam quicker. Miss him a lot Gracie Jiu-Jitsu black belt - Kodokan Judo 2nd Dan black belt - ITF TaeKwonDo black belt - Kyokushin Karate black belt - Shotokan Karate black belt - Kenpo Karate 4th Dan black belt - Yoshinkan Aikido brown belt

Which organization is he with? You are very fortunate to have an instructor so invested in your progress. How long did it take you with his help? He knew I wanted it bad so he focused on me a Lil more and extra haha. He knew he was leaving 8 months before the date so it became 4 times a week to 6 times a week 2 hour sessions and some classes just me and him if we didn't have a busy day. It took me all together 6 years & 8 months to master it. But those 8 months were hell. Hahaha. Was such an honour for him to work with me instead of all the other talented artists we have. Really was a confidence booster. Kuma
Very cool. You're quite fortunate. 6 years is a good time frame for a Kyokushin shodan in most organizations. Which one is Sensei Ivany in? There's so many nowadays it's hard to keep track.

How long have you been doing Martial Arts. Kuma
I've been training in Kyokushin since 2004, so about 9 years now. Boxing and a bit of Goju Ryu, some Muay Thai, and now also a Judo student.I have to say - that's quite a collection of black belts. How long did it take to acquire them all? I've been in Martial Arts since age three haha. My goal is to open up my own school. It is a work in progress at the moment. That's my dream. I mastered 6 arts and Aikido I am a brown belt but my sensei is battling cancer so if I can't master Yoshinkan Aikido I am more then happy to stay a brown belt under him and not go to another sensei. I also train in Wrestling, Boxing and Muay-Thai. A bit new to Wrestling & Boxing. I was always a traditional art guy lol. Kuma
Since age three, that's fantastic. One of my sons is almost 4 and he can't stand still for anything much less to learn martial arts, so that says a lot of good things about you. How old are you now?I have the same dream of opening up my own school, though I miss so many testings it may be quite some time. Work always seems to get in the way of the weekend belt tests. I remember testing for blue belt with a friend of mine who is now a nidan, but that's just how it goes I guess.

Trained 6 times a day in several arts between the ages of 3-5. Started GJJ, Kyokushin, & Shotokan when I was 11. I started TKD & Kenpo at 3 lol. My father is a sensei so that helped me quiet a bit. I want to start a school so successful that I wouldn't have to work. Just instruct and manage the school. A lot of the older Sensei's & professors say I have a "gift" they say I was/am so successful because of my work ethic, and how me and martial arts were meant for each other. Getting up at 5am every morning to do Katas & Taeguks & technical training was an everyday thing for me. On weekends I would ditch plans with my friends just to go train lol. I am so passionate about MA. People don't believe all the ranks I have cuz of my age. But when they see 1 hour classes and just watch me. They understand I've earned every colour, every stripe, etc. blood, sweat, & tears were shed every day but it was worth it. I believe you have to work for what you want. No matter how young, old, out of shape you are. Kuma
I can see why people might have some doubts considering your age and having five black belts, especially a 4th dan at 21 years of age. For most people a yondan takes 15 to 20 years. The GJJ, Judo, and Kyokushin black belts are also known to be quite difficult to earn as well.
