In my youth I did Shorin ryu Karate, when I was at collage I studied Wing Chun kung fu. I later changed back to Karate. My kung fu Sifu was a student of Jeremy Kwok. I find the relationship between the two schools fascinating.

Look to the far mountain and see all.

Did kungfu Toa in Iran, switched to shotokan in canada, went to boxing and then I started doing shaolin excercises/chi kung to help improve my boxing.

So basicly I practice boxing but I have a sifu who helps me on the side and I have a kyokushin buddy who we train together. So I guess now its boxing +karate/kungfu on the side!

It begins with the knowledge that the severity of a strikes impact is amplified by a smaller surface area.

Switched...no! Dabbled...yes. I find many effective things within many of the kung-fu styles.

Started in Karate, never really switched, but dabbled and played hands a bit...

...funny thing is that I've been accused of training/teaching Gung Fu by other Karate-ka...

I have been studying karate, and just started taking kung fu, and my kung fu instructor decided to skip the external forms and start me on the internal forms, starting me on the 42 position form of tai chi,. I'm hoping it can help with my soft side! Has any one else put these 2 arts together?

I know of a lot of senior people with the British martial arts scene, who have followed that path. Danny Connor and Steve Rowe to name two. You could even say Steve Morris, before he rejected all oriental influence.

If you believe in an ideal. You don't own it ; it owns you.

My interest to Wing Chun comes from the fact that it does not have high kicks - Shudan or core is enough. I can do some kicks to Jodan - head, but not all. Side split is very poor now a days.

I don't think I will switch, but integrate styles would be more accurate. I'd also try to include all I've learned.

Also one benefit is to meet new martial artists.

(My background is from karate. Have not but my karategi on for a while, but use my skills two times per week in our boxing/kick boxing sessions.)

I started with Western Boxing then switched to Karate then switched to Self-Defense then Kung Fu. I dabbled in chinese wrestling with a very good friend-Kali with a very good friend.
