AdamKralic
Came back from first strike 7 karate/tae kwon do/kung fu tourney in Hillsdale on Sunday...was surprised to see some of the belt colors.I typically see pure karate tourneys so that's probably it...but is green belt a intermediate belt in Tae Kwon Do/Kung Fu? In my son's school it was the first belt where you were allowed to spar...so it is considered beginner. Didn't directly effect us...just curious is all. And what is orange? DWx
It depends on the style of TKD but generally green belt would be the equivalent to 6th or 5th kyu so yes it's an intermediate rank. Orange is usually somewhere near the start and would be around 8th or 7th kyu. AdamKralic
Ah ok that makes sense then. In karate it is the third belt. white then yellow then green.
bushido_man96
We go white, orange, green, blue, brown, black. Each colored belt has a high and a low rank, and brown has a high, middle, and low rank. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
Rateh
Generally divisions are listed as novice (white, yellow, orange), intermediate (green, blue, purple), advanced (red, brown), black belt (black). If your school doesn't do belts in that order, then the instructor just decides what ranks they consider in their school to be novice, intermediate, and advanced.Like my school has purple belt between yellow and orange, so purple is actually considered novice. Your present circumstances don't determine where you can go; they merely determine where you start. - Nido Qubein
JohnASE
Everyone does it differently. Many Japanese style karate groups put green just below or brown, above blue or purple.
