yamesu
Common theme here.I was 7 years old and my Mother told me two of my friends were doing Karate, and asked if I wanted to try. I said yes, and that was my introduction to Kyokushin.I've never looked back. "We did not inherit this earth from our parents. We are borrowing it from our children." MasterPain
I was a quiet, unathletic, nerdy kid who got picked on and wanted to be able to do something about it. Also, Bloodsport.Anyway, I saw a demonstration of my current system and got started. My fists bleed death. -Akuma

Shizentai
My friend and I started together, but I forgot to quit. It was a lot easier to stick with it because my family didn't want me to. Everything I did was on my own effort, so I valued it more than I would have otherwise. JohnASE
My story isn't particularly interesting. I started training when I was about 9 or 10. I wasn't picked on on anything. I had been in a few scrapes, but I generally gave as good as I got, despite being one of the smallest in my grade. My neighbor was about to start judo classes under a friend of his parents. They invited my little brother and me, so we went.I stuck with it for a few years, then dropped judo to devote more time to school and baseball, but the skills I learned in judo served me well througout my life, especially the ability to fall with out getting hurt (much). skullsplitter
My son has a very mild case of a muscle disease. We started him in karate to keep him stretched and active. After watching him for 7 years I finally decided to give it a try. I'm at the school all the time anyway so why not. I'm a little over a year into it and now I'm hooked. I wish I would made the decision sooner.

AlwaysInTraining
I was 5 and was sick one night and went downstairs in the middle of the night and found my Dad watching an old Jet Li Film (the legend of fong sai yuk). He let me stay up and watch it with him and that planted the seed and at age 19 i played Tekken one too many times and decided to something about it and took up Taekwondoe. Since then ive switched to Shotokan Karate and then Kyokushinkai Karate and im going for Black Belt in August. Rule one of Sparring: Beware of anyone who grins the face of obvious oblivion. FangPwnsAll7
I got bullied up all through middle school. I'm now 15 and in 9th grade. I started taking Tang Soo Do classes and transferred school districts at the start of 9th grade. I'm happy I enrolled in a martial arts school because I am more self confident now. I learned to stand up for myself. I love karate now and I'll never stop going because of how much it has helped me. T3chnopsycho
When I was in Kindergarden and first grade (I lived in the US at that time) my best friend did Karate. Well then when we got back to Switzerland my brother desperately wanted to start doing Karate so our mother looked for a Dojo. She found one and my brother went there. Well anyway at that age brothers always want to do the same things so I also started. And here I am now about 10 years later. My brother quit in the meantime but I'm still doing it and the longer I do it the less I want to stop ^^CheersT3chnopsycho 1st Dan:It's not the top but just the point where you start to understand the true size of what you're doing.
