A gunman ambushed four volunteer firefighters who responded to a blaze early Monday in Webster, N.Y., killing two and seriously injuring two others, along with an off-duty police officer.

Never heard of such a thing. I'm going to be really concerned if this turns into another model crime to be copied by others, like Columbine created with "active shooter" model attacks.

My biggest worry is that this is a prototype crime that will be copied by others. Is there any thoughts coming out as to how better to protect against an attack of this type?

There is word that floats around about ambush attacks like this in response to cops shooting down armed suspects. Its very realistic to assume someone wanting revenge would just call in a "suspicious activity" report or a "welfare check," to lure in an officer and kill them.

Always be vigilant.
