2013 Martial Arts Goals

1. Test for Shodan in Bujin Bugei Jutsu

2. Continue commitment to BJJ.

3. Become Rifle certified through my department

4. Find time to keep up on stand up and combatives

No doubt all will be accomplished.

On number 3- I think that every cop in America should be qualified and train regularly on the rifle. It's the weapon of the day for good reason. Increased range, accuracy, capacity, speed of reloads, and optical enhancement capability, and the ability to penetrate armor and makeshift barriers with proper ammo selection make it THE go to weapon in high risk situations. Of course, this is all for nothing if a department does not support regular training. That's pre-qual training, regular qual, AND additional training thru the year. In-house and outside training, especially for instructors and tac units.

There, I'm off my soap box now. I am glad you're full on about getting up and running with a department long gun. Nor am I surprised.

My new goals in 2013

1)Slowely ease into doing pushups when i feel i am physical able to ie not been able to do so since i broke my left big toe 2 months previously

2)only attempt the required gradinges when i am good and ready for them and be more prepared and have more confidence in successfully achieving the required gup grades.

3)learn the required forms and other self defence techinques that are required for gradings this year when i am ready to do so.

4)start attending tournements when i am able to

5) have more self confidence in myself and my own abilities as a martial artist and not to attempt techniques that at the moment and at my current martial arts development are beyond my reach.

keeping fit keeps you healthy.Karate is excellent way to keep fit and learn self-discipline

1. Make Shodan in Judo

2. Add additional training days to my current regimen.

3. Be able to compete more.

4. Develop my Tai Otoshi to the point where I can win with it in competition.

Think first, act second, and stop getting the two confused.

1. Learn everything I need to pass brown belt, then pass the test.

2. Compete in my first submission grappling match/tournament.

3. I have friends that run an MMA gym out of their garage, I need to make it there to spar.

4. Not embarrass myself running the Warrior Dash.

5. Cardio, cardio, cardio!

Again, I really like everyone's goals and I believe that they're not far fetched or impossible. Good luck to all and may your goals reach fruition.

1. I'd like to test in front of Master John P. Nieto this year.

2. Really focus on my makiwara training.

3. Start teaching some basic grappling in class.
