I assume your instructor asked you this question as I have had many people ask me this before.

 

Normally everyone says "Shoalin Tsu Kenpo" or "Shoalin Gung Fu", but the answer you are searching for is neither of these.

 

I knew the answer once, but I have a habit about forgetting things I don't care about :) j/k

Isn't Modern Wushu now taught at the Shaolin temples? It is more of a tourist attraction now.

Yes, you go and they will teach you Modern Wu shu. That's what Chinese Goverment want to promote.

 

Traditional Shaolin kung fu is only for the Monks of the Temple, not for foreins.

Yes. You will fork out vast sums of American dollars to be taught Wu Shu by a guy from the nearby village who changes into orange robes just before the lesson...

 

Well... what did you expect? Kwai Chang Kane?

 

I've looked into this, and heard quite a few reports. There are still hordes of western people staying there to learn MA, so they must get something out of it.
