There are lower levels of female competition about everywhere. Some are, as in all things, better than others. With the UFC bankroll, it shouldn't be long until the money attracts some good skills.

I agree, it will start slow but one thing the UFC can do is market. I'm actually looking forward to seeing it showcased more.

As of yesterday Rousey has officially signed to the UFC and automatically becomes the 135 lb champ: http://www.tmz.com/2012/11/08/ronda-rousey-female-fighter-ufc-fighter/

(Also Strikeforce is set to end after the January card: http://www.mmafighting.com/ufc/2012/11/8/3620502/strikeforce-back-jan-12-with-three-title-fights-daniel-cormiers-return )

I don't know tbh. I guess it just lets her "defend" her title. Although I don't see why they don't do what you say. What did they do for UFC 1?

UFC 1 was a single elimination tournament done in a single day. Not safe.

That's why I think they should build up to it, using several fights over a few months time to finally build to the final match, to produce the first UFC women's champion. You'd think he could market that.
