chrisw08 Posted August 9, 2012 Posted August 9, 2012 I am going to buy the spiral rattan bo. I like the way it looks when it spins and it looks like it has pretty nice control. I am also going to buy a hardwood straight bo. Any one have those and what is your opinion.
vantheman Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 I have the hardwood bo from century if that is the one you are talking about. It's a very sturdy bo. I love it. Van
yamesu Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 I have both (as well as a heavy untapered hardwood bo), and they all serve a purpose.I use my heavy bo for kata practice and for speed/strength training, so when i pick up the other two I can move them quicker and more precisely.I use the rattan bo for two person drills and actually hitting other weapons, as they damage less than hardwood. All in all, I would say get both. chrisw08 Posted August 11, 2012 Author Posted August 11, 2012 Do you think your kata looks better with the spiral bo since it is lighter and the design
chrisw08 Posted August 11, 2012 Author Posted August 11, 2012 Reason is if I had to buy one bo to practice perform my kata in class and tournement which should I buy if only one? the spiral one?
vantheman Posted August 11, 2012 Posted August 11, 2012 Reason is if I had to buy one bo to practice perform my kata in class and tournement which should I buy if only one? the spiral one?Well, I would suggest you get both. Use the heavy one to practice the kata and perform with the rattan bo, as it is a bit lighter. Not only do you get a cool design, but it will be faster. Van
