chrisw08
I am in shorin ryu and I am going to start learning the kata and drills. I am going to order 2 or 3 pairs of escrima and a rattan straight bo. I was wondering about the diffrent ones and the weight and feel of the ones they have on century. I wanted a pretty heavy ones that feels nice and I want a light pair to demo with. I was thinking of getting the sprial regular and spiral deluxe and the blue maple demo ones that are around $25 Anybody had these particularly intrested in the diffrence in the regular and the deluxe? Two main questions are diffrence in regular and deluxe spiral weight and feel and how are the $25 maple pair.
vantheman
I am not 100% sure on this, but I BELIEVE that Deluxe escrima are unpeeled, while regular one are peeled. The unpeeled ones have a smoother coating on them, while the peeled ones remove this and have a rougher feel. How this affects performance, I am not sure. Hope this helps, Van
yamesu
I think keeping the peel on means that they have a longer lifespan through not fraying and splitting as much.Rattan is a funny substance, and after some use will eventually break down into thread like materials.
