Dobbersky Posted July 19, 2012 Author Posted July 19, 2012 As a point of comparison.................... I suspect it was developed mostly because students want frequent rewards (no problem with that) and to add more testing fees (which is ridiculous).To-Shin Do has the most ridiculous belt system I've seen. Most levels have a "blue-white", "blue", and "blue-black" system. ..........Better than this I have seen 15th and 17th Dan grades in some forms on Ninjitsu, not too sure on the time scales inbetween, I suppose its only the same as puting a "Ho" grade inbetween each Dan grade i.e.Shodan HoShodanNidan HoNidan............. JusticeZero Posted July 19, 2012 Posted July 19, 2012 Ninjutsu had the wacky high grades because they put concrete requirements for all of the belts up to 10th dan, then had the problem of how to organize all the people who got to the top. I don't know why they did that, and tend to agree with their stance of pointing out that the whole thing is an arbitrary modern construction. "Anything worth doing is worth doing badly." - Baleia

evergrey Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 That's a lot of new belts to buy! http://kyokushinchick.blogspot.com/"If you can fatally judo-chop a bull, you can sit however you want." -MasterPain, on why Mas Oyama had Kyokushin karateka sit in seiza with their clenched fists on their thighs.
