koreantiger81 Posted September 1, 2002 Posted September 1, 2002 Due to my present lifestyle, I'm on the move from one city to another... Not all cities have my particular martial art.... What martial art is the most popular system in Canada? U.S.A?or in other parts of the world? Kinesiologist/TrainerBlack-Belt
LeaF Posted September 1, 2002 Posted September 1, 2002 I believe altough I could be wrong, TKD is the most praticed art in the world. But I mean if you stick to fairly large citys and towns you'll generally find some form of karate around too (normally either shotokan or goju). This is what my person observations have been... Goju Ryu Karate-do and Okinawan Kobudo, 17 Years Old 1st kyu Brown Belt in in Goju Ryu Karate-do, & Shodan in Okinawan KobudoGiven enough time, any man may master the physical. With enough knowledge, any man may become wise. It is the true warrior who can master both....and surpass the result.I AM CANADIAN
karatekid1975 Posted September 1, 2002 Posted September 1, 2002 I agree Leaf. TKD, from what I know ( ..... I could be wrong, though) is the most popular art in the US. But 9 times outta 10, it's the "sport" version. Be careful of the McDojangs. Laurie F
G95champ Posted September 1, 2002 Posted September 1, 2002 TKD and Shotokan. TKD for the world and Shotokan for the US. I think I read this a few years back in Blackbelt Mag. (General George S. Patton Jr.) "It's the unconquerable soul of man, and not the nature of the weapon he uses, that ensures victory."
inyctrotter Posted September 2, 2002 Posted September 2, 2002 TKD in US....But i have heard that Kung Fu is very popular in Asia too.

moobrack Posted September 2, 2002 Posted September 2, 2002 From what i know the biggest and most known martial arts in the world would have to be TKD, Shotokan and Brazilian Ju Jitsu Anthony Bullock1st Dan Black Belt - Shotokan Karate5th Kyu Yellow Belt - Aiki-Jutsuhttps://www.universaldojo.com Coming Soon
G95champ Posted September 3, 2002 Posted September 3, 2002 I don't think most look at Boxing and Wrestling when talking about most popular MA. However I do agree both may be one and two anywhere. (General George S. Patton Jr.) "It's the unconquerable soul of man, and not the nature of the weapon he uses, that ensures victory."
Kensai Posted September 3, 2002 Posted September 3, 2002 As I understand it it goes, 1.TKD 2.Shotokan 3.Judo 4.Aikido. These are the most practiced styles. But I think in big cities, especially london, you can practice nearly every style from the Wudang to Shotokan.
