I understand how you feel.

I too once stopped training. BIG MISTAKE - it took a lot to get me back on the mat.

Sparring can be intimidating BUT you have to see it as only a competition with yourself. The only safe way you are going to know what it feels like to have someone putting your skills to the test. To know what it feels like to have someone throwing a strike, and to know how you can best make contact.

You are putting your own skills to a challenge, not getting beat up. Its a friendly match with someone who is not trying to really hurt you.

I truly believe that a small victory in dojo will equal a great victory in the street.

Martial Arts is my saviour to life lol. You shouldn't have to spar if you don't want to. Just go your own pace and whenever you're ready to spar, than spar. And I guarantee you, you'll be motivated and have a boost of confidence when that time comes ! Osuuuu

Some styles require sparring in some form or another for certain ranks. Once our students are above orange belt, they spar at every testing. Sometimes, it isn't an option.

I feel like quitting karate.I just can't stay motivated.Sparring scares the crap out of me.I'm having family issues, not to mention school and band and the rest of the stuff in my life going on to.

But If I quit,I feel guilty that I've been avoiding classes to make time for homework and just because I didn't want to go.I don't want the image of me being a quitter and a coward to haunt me for the rest of my life.

Please,any help,or motivation?Anything?

Would be nice to know what happened... It's been half a year or even longer.

Sometimes other things in ones life is much more important than karate/MA. You shouldn't ever feel guilty for doing things that are important to you. Karate/MA will be there waiting for you with open arms when the time is right. If you never return to Karate/MA, then there are worse things to worry about.

Hang in there!!
