MasterPain Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 1 Have you ever trained with a different style of martial arts? It's kinda what we do.2 Have you ever trained in another country? You put a "R" in counties..3 Have you ever trained outdoors? Yes, quite a bit.4 Have you ever trained so hard you couldn't stand? Yeah, it's good for the soul.5 Have you ever had dreams about training? Yes, but more about actual violence.6 Have you ever been knocked unconscious during training? No, but I've been dropped with body shots, and a low blow that made me wish I could be unconscious.7 Have you ever intentionally lost a fight? Only when I'm feeding someone submissions to help them develop the skill against resistance. But I guess that's really what an uke is.8 Have you ever run from a fight? Not really run, but I have backed out of a place while telling 3 guys that I would hurt anyone who followed me.9 Have you ever cried during training? Tears of joy, for having great friends who punch me square in the nose.10 Have you ever saved your own life with martial arts? Breakfalls are awesome. So, maybe.11 Have you ever saved another person's? Maybe by convincing them not to do stupid things in stupid places with stupid people. My fists bleed death. -Akuma

Wastelander Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 1 Have you ever trained with a different style of martial arts?--Yes, I have trained with Kyokushin people, White Crane people, Kenpo people, and Kensho-Do people as well as people who have mixed backgrounds.2 Have you ever trained in another country?--Only if Hawaii counts as another country? It doesn't? Then no, I've only trained in the U.S. 3 Have you ever trained outdoors?--Yes, I have, in front of the dojo, at couple of parks and at a couple of beaches.4 Have you ever trained so hard you couldn't stand?--Yes5 Have you ever had dreams about training?--Routinely6 Have you ever been knocked unconscious during training?--No, but I did come close once when I took a shot right under the right ear and my vision went dark and my legs wobbled, but I stayed upright and my vision cleared up. I have been dropped by pain, though.7 Have you ever intentionally lost a fight?--Of course I have. The kids would never spar with me if I didn't give them openings to try for and opportunities to win 8 Have you ever run from a fight?--I have avoided confrontation and bad situations. Does that count?9 Have you ever cried during training?--Yes10 Have you ever saved your own life with martial arts?--I don't think so11 Have you ever saved another person's?--Only if using MasterPain's advice almost verbatim ("Don't do stupid things in stupid places with stupid people") has kept them from danger. yamesu Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 1 Have you ever trained with a different style of martial arts?I regularly train in several styles. Presas Arnis, kickboxing and (mainly) Kyokushin.2 Have you ever trained in another country?Yes - India, Thailand, Mexico and the USA.3 Have you ever trained outdoors?Yes - I live in the Bush near waterfalls and a great deal of dirt trails and rocky outcrops, it beats training inside!!!4 Have you ever trained so hard you couldn't stand?Yes - There has been a few kyokushin lessons I have had my legs hammered to jelly, and has taken days to recover. Noteably, a few months back I triped over myself in kumite and sprained my ankle a good one, that stopped me from walking out of the dojo.5 Have you ever had dreams about training?Yes - one of the most memorable was me training tobi-hiza-geri (flying knee).6 Have you ever been knocked unconscious during training? No, I have come close - copped a spinning back kick to the head which actually had me seeing stars. Taught me not to underestimate taequondo BB's!!!7 Have you ever intentionally lost a fight?Yes - training as a guest at an out of town dojo, I felt that I should not show up a not-so-skilled resident BB.8 Have you ever run from a fight?Yes, I wont go into details, but my brother and I were heavily outnumbered and confrontation would have been futile.9 Have you ever cried during training? No, after training I have come close.10 Have you ever saved your own life with martial arts?Dont know about that, but I have definitely averted a few sticky situations as well as defended myself from certain injury.11 Have you ever saved another person's?Possibly, again, much the same as for #10. It is hard to say if someone would have been severely injured, or died. Neither happened so I guess it does not matter. "We did not inherit this earth from our parents.
