omnifinite Posted September 1, 2002 Posted September 1, 2002 When someone comes to you with something to prove, I wonder if saying, "My uncle is a lawyer... touch me and we'll sue the !@#$! out of you," would be an effective deterrent. That might suck all the ancient warrior romance right out of the conflict for him . Think a blast of 21st century banality can do the trick? 1st Dan HapkidoColored belts in Kempo and Jujitsu

Red J Posted September 15, 2002 Posted September 15, 2002 At a party in college I got into a situation where some guy wanted to fight. I said to him, now you are probably a good fighter, and I'm not too bad either, what do you think is going to happen if we fight? We agreed that we would probably just beat the snot out of each other, ruin our clothes, get the party shut down by the cops, and we would have to go home. Then I said, how about if we go back inside, chill out, and have a good time instead. He said that's a great idea. Well...it worked for me. Thankfully, I was never put into that situation again. I had to lose my mind to come to my senses.
Ti-Kwon-Leap Posted September 16, 2002 Author Posted September 16, 2002 There is an E-book floating around on kazaa if you are too lazy to buy it... Ti-Kwon-Leap"Annoying the ignorant since 1961"
Ti-Kwon-Leap Posted September 17, 2002 Author Posted September 17, 2002 There was something mentioned in that book about how 95% of people who seem ready to fight will back out if given the oppourtunity to do so. It is a particularly interesting book because he really understands the mindsets, rituals and dynamics of both the aggressor and the defender. I think it is a must-read for anyone who wants to understand the psychology and tactics of confrontation as well as how to deal with it. Ti-Kwon-Leap"Annoying the ignorant since 1961"
