So a little over a year ago I got into a bad fight. I mean it was pretty dirty and I've been in a number of fights but this one was by far the worst. Though I came through on top and wasn't injured too badly, the way it started out couldv'e ended badly had I not been trained. Anyways, I often find myself "zoned out" replaying the fight in my head. These flashbacks don't bother me in any way, shape, or form but I was just wondering is this normal? Anyone else have the same thing?

I use this fight as a lesson on what works and what doesn't and it has definitely helped me with more recent situations so I guess nothing's wrong, right?

Why are you getting into a number of fights? Other than that, it sounds normal.

Yes, what MasterPain said.

Any fight, be it real, tournament, or otherwise should be reviewed for learning opportunities. Perhaps you should begin looking for the opportunity where you could have prevented it from happening, based on the fact you've been in several.

That stuff is scary. I had to talk a co-worker back to reality once. He almost attacked a forklift driver with a hammer.

PTSD is real, and can be serious. It sounds like you have a pretty good handle on reality, but just be aware of the symptoms.

Any traumatic event, whether it be a street fight or a battle in the jungle can cause mental health issues.

Grossman has some really good insight on the subject on his books "On Combat", and "On Killing".

On a serious note, some of the most Prolific Serial Killers/Mass Murderers suffered from PTSD

I have been diagnosed with it from my time in the British Armed forces

It definitely isn't PTSD...Its just that i can remember it as if it was yesterday.

Datguy, relax, chill, you make it sound like having PTSD means you belong in a straight jacket and living in a padded cell. To me that is as bad as racism or sexism!

You'd be supprised how many people you work with socialise with and connect with have PTSD or other similar issues!

I suppose the best example of PTSD is Rambo or the Bourne Series and I bet you like watching them!

you'll get over it, maybe get a bit of CBT councilling to help you cope with it and guess what only the people on here and your Doctor/Therapist will know unless YOU tell anyone else!!!
