bushido_man96
How, and from what position do you deliver the strikes to the eyes or the groin?I also wonder about what kind of sparring you use to create a realistic scenario in which to deliver these strikes. The groin isn't as easy to hit as many are led to believe, and the eyes are a very small target, as well. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
JusticeZero
Well, say your art is based around punching people in the dangly impolite parts. You may have problems actually getting your art to be effective in practice just because you don't really get to clobber people there in the training hall, you have to deal with a bunch of abstractions to simulate it.That's not to mention the reality that you might actually clobber someone there and have them proceed to beat you senseless because they've got enough adrenaline in their system that they don't feel it until after they've left the scene when it does you no good. Harkon72
Chinese martial arts are alive and well in Wales, Wing Chun, Tai Chi, Wu Shu Quan, and even Lau Gar which is a British freestyle art. We have a Shaolin Stylist in our county, he has a small but loyal following. Look to the far mountain and see all.

What I see here are really glorified one-steps. Once the attacker has thrown his initial strike, and it gets blocked, there is nothing else from him but cooperation. I'm not saying there is no value in learning this way, but I think its a step that starts self-defense training, and is good for learning techniques and such, but eventually you have to move on to some type of resistance from he attacker to foul up the plans.kNow, that said, I've only seen three clips of the style, so if there is something more like this, then that's great. I'd love to hear more about the style. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com

Everybody wheres protective cups to protect the groin. As for other pads or protective gear maybe a mouth piece. As a beginner I am taught to do any move I learn very slowly to learn control. the upper belts go hard and fast and yes sometimes someone gets a shot that hurts. San soo goes to the groin , throat and eyes quite a bit.Peeps take shots to the groin everyday but you can't take eye and throat shots.

Then, learn to take a throat strike. I try to avoid being hit in the groin, cup or not. My fists bleed death. -Akuma
FullPotentialMA
MMA is good and bad. It is good in that it bring attention to the martial arts, and people who are enthusiastic to learn. It is bad in that, unfortunately, the focus is a sports focus, i.e., predominantly on fighting, and being successful in fighting -- all against a single opponent only. This hinders students who sometimes need to "invest in loss" in order to grow.
